Metal Coil Drapery
Metal coil drapery from KAPHS is a flexible architectural metal fabric woven from continuously linked coils, creating a fluid, free-hanging metal curtain that drapes and ripples like textile. Also known as a coil curtain or coil drapery, it is used to divide and dress spaces while keeping them open to light and air. KAPHS supplies and installs it across Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the wider UAE and GCC for architects, interior designers and fit-out contractors.
Made to order in aluminium and stainless steel, the drapery offers one of the widest colour ranges of any architectural metal fabric — through anodising and PVD coating — so it can be matched precisely to an interior scheme or a façade palette. It hangs freely as a curtain, divider or ceiling drape, or can be framed and tensioned as a fixed decorative screen for both interior and exterior use.
Metal coil drapery applications
It is specified for a broad range of decorative and functional uses:
- Room dividers & space partitions — semi-transparent metal curtains that zone open-plan interiors without closing them off.
- Feature curtains & backdrops — shimmering drapery behind reception desks, bar fronts and stages.
- Feature ceilings & ceiling drapes — lightweight panels suspended as a rippling ceiling feature.
- Wall cladding & decorative screens — framed panels as a textured wall finish.
- Façade sunscreens & solar shading — exterior-grade drapery for shading and visual screening.
- Hospitality, retail & events — hotels, restaurants, showrooms and exhibition stands.
Materials & finishes
The drapery is produced in aluminium (lightweight, ideal for large ceiling and interior spans) and stainless steel (for durability and exterior use). Finishes include natural metallic tones plus a broad palette of anodised and PVD colours — gold, champagne, rose, bronze, black, silver and custom shades. Coil diameter, spacing and drop are all made to measure, giving control over transparency, weight and drape. According to the wider architectural metalwork industry, coil-linked metal fabrics are valued for combining flexibility with durability.
How it compares to KAPHS’s other metal curtains
KAPHS offers a family of flexible metal curtains, each with a different construction and look. Metal coil drapery is woven from continuous linked coils for a light, linear ripple and the widest colour range. Ring Mesh is a chainmail fabric of individually interlinked rings, giving a denser, jewel-like drape. Chainlink Curtain Mesh (ChainForm) is our branded chain-link curtain system. See all interior uses on our metal mesh for interior design page, or browse the full metal mesh range.
Frequently asked questions
What is metal coil drapery?
It is a decorative metal fabric woven from continuously linked coils that hangs like a curtain. It is used indoors and outdoors as a room divider, feature curtain, ceiling drape or sunscreen, providing a semi-transparent, rippling metallic surface.
What is it made from?
It is made to order in aluminium and stainless steel, with anodised and PVD colour finishes in gold, bronze, black, silver and custom shades. Coil size, spacing and drop are tailored to the project.
Can it be used outdoors?
Yes. Specified in stainless steel or anodised aluminium, it is suitable for exterior façade sunscreens and solar shading as well as interior curtains and dividers.
Is coil drapery the same as a chainmail curtain?
No. A chainmail curtain (see KAPHS Ring Mesh) is made from interlinked rings, while coil drapery is woven from continuous coils. Both are flexible metal curtains but differ in construction, weight and appearance.
